411515a83b wcc: checker-seam drain — spreads, tuple aliases, yield scoping
Four seams from one review cluster, all landing on the same checker
files; gates ran on the union (rule 11 body).

?-subset: the wwstage walk compared `...spread` ALIAS nodes on both
sides of the error-subset check, falsely rejecting a spread-carried
error return (`(i64 | ...errs)`, cs-accept/ww-reject) — both sides
now flatten like trycountvariants (cstage Tparams are pre-flattened
at type level).

Multi-let/multi-assign: the tuple gates keyed on the RAW rhs kind,
rejecting a NAMED tuple alias (`type pair = (i64,i64)`; cs clean-
reject, ww asserttyped stop) — both stages chase per #99 alias
transparency, wwstage rettupleof peels the alias so cgmassign keeps
the str element's len/cap stores, and the catA massign-alias error
pin re-rules to a run fixture. The N_MLET diagnostic also printed
its operands swapped (elem/declared reversed vs its wording).

Yield: match_yield_type didn't descend into N_SWITCH, so a yield
inside a switch arm typed the match void and dropped the value
(both stages); and a stray yield outside any match arm reached cgen
unchecked — both stages now gate on a match-arm counter (the
c->loops discipline).

f191e6e0e2 wcc: modulo is integer-only; compound ops carry their operand class
Hare's rule (harec check.c binarithm): % and the bitwise/shift five
are integer-only; + - * / need numeric operands. ww grouped % with
the numeric ops, and compound assigns never op-checked at all, so
`a % b` on floats compiled half-lowered (live cs!=ww divergence),
`a %= 2.0` plain-stored the rhs (op silently dropped, both stages),
and `s += "cd"` garbled str headers. Gate both at the checker, both
stages; the cgen float-compound fallbacks and the three unknown-
compound legacy defaults (deref/global/local) demote to rule-7 hard
stops. 34 compound-on-tagged/str/slice fixtures re-pin from the old
cgen "not wired" stops to the earlier checker diagnostics; 3 new
reject fixtures pin the closed shapes.

62b9d20383 toolchain: banner purge + WHY-only comment sweep (rule 8)
selfhost/, cmd/, internal/ join the tree-wide sweep: every section
banner dies (91 selfhost + the cmd C-style dividers -> 0); narration
and stale contracts deleted (pre-#22 bundler notes, retired
single-PT_LOAD and no-archive claims, superseded ABI tables); every
ref/harec/qbe cite, task cite, encoding/ELF contract, and rule-10
twin pointer kept; lost lifetime/rationale lines restored where the
sweep over-cut (elf_globals ownership, kwtab linear-scan). Comment-
only proven: all five wwstage tool binaries byte-identical across
the sweep; test-commit, test-byteid (161+1399, 0 pinned-divergent),
and test-bootstrap (fixed point + 991-995 byte-id) all exit 0.
The read-through banked 66 latent-bug leads (checkpoint).

b52f30a894 wcc: reject module-scope alloc/call let initializers at check time
A module-scope let whose rhs runs code (alloc, call — peeled through
cast/?/! wrappers) emitted no DATAW slot: emit_lets' fold-fail
silently skipped the definition and every reference died at LINK
time with 'undefined reference', the one unacceptable failure mode
(rule 7). Hare's model rejects at check time (ref/harec/src/
check.c:4360 'Unable to evaluate initializer at compile time') and
routes runtime init through @init, which ww does not have — so both
frontends now reject at the declaration with identical wording.

alias_infptr_global flips compile->error as the alloc pin (its
letvartnode N_TPTR-over-N_TSTRUCT coverage lives on in the local
alias_infptr_{nest,slicecap} siblings); callinit_global_reject pins
the call shape. Corpus pin 1741/345/21/209/1166/3482.

fa4b9a134b lib: migrate every test file to the canonical *_test.ww name
25 renames (git mv, content untouched). _test.ww is what the package
coordinator's test detection and the sep loader's canonical exclusion

line-leading-@test compatibility scan. Consumers updated in place:
LIBRARY_TESTS, the libbyteid roster, the 901/974/975/976 carriers that
copy or invoke these files, and the check.c/check.ww + path/ftos
comments that cite them. Closes the open-driver-work migration bullet.

5fb18876b9 check: lower an array-variable borrow into a union slice success variant (#17) 2026-06-28 10:43:34 +09:00
6b36b050d7 check: reject an array-literal borrow into a union slice success variant (#13)
A stack array literal returned into a tagged-union slice success variant (fn mk() ([]i32|e) = { return [10,20,30]; }) slipped past reject_arrlit_borrow — it bailed when the dst was not TY_SLICE, but a union dst is TY_TAGGED — so cgen built an all-zeros slice header: a silent both-stage miscompile (and the .ptr would dangle anyway, no outliving backing). Extend the reject to chase a TY_TAGGED dst to its slice success variant, then apply the existing reject; this is the #25/#31 treatment seen through the union, and matches Hare (rule-9). Reached by all acceptance sites (return/assign/call-arg) so the class closes by construction. Both stages converge on an identical accept/reject decision (an array literal assignable to a union is assignable to a slice or array variant; neither stage can accept it). Full support — promoting the literal to an outliving backing — is the separate #33 arc. Compile-error fixture + a positive over-reach guard (a real slice into the union still compiles). No asm emitted by a reject, so byte-id is unchanged (no floor ratchet).

e515a08fb7 check: autodereference a single-level *fn callee before the call gate (C6a)
cstage rejected a deref-less function-pointer call `f(21)` (f: *fn...) with
"calling non-function" while wwstage accepted it and ran correctly -- a
cs!=ww divergence. Hare auto-dereferences a pointer callee to its fn type
before the call. Peel one pointer level after the named-type chase so
cstage accepts a `*fn` callee, matching wwstage and Hare.

One level only, deliberately: the #181-cgen indirect-call path lowers the
callee VALUE as the target (CALL AX), which is the fn address for a single
`*fn` but only the address-of the fn-ptr for `**fn`. A multi-level peel
would accept `**fn` past what cgen can lower -- a silent both-stage
miscompile (returns garbage). cstage stays loud on `**fn` (rule 7);
wwstage's loop-accept of all levels (check.ww:3763) is the over-permissive
side, filed for align-down plus the deeper cgen multi-level autoderef.

Surfaced by the codegen miscompile hunt (finding C6a). Pinned by
test/lang/fnptr_derefless_call_test.ww (deref-less + canonical (*f)(21),
multi-arg, alias-chain, tuple-return; reverting the peel reds the
deref-less rows at compile).

e7effe5f57 check: narrow untyped float literals to f32 in f32 context (#120)
An untyped float literal defaults to f64, so in an f32 context it was
materialized as f64 then bit-truncated by a raw MOVSS (low-32 reinterpret)
rather than narrowed -- e.g. `let x: f32 = 2.0f32; x * 3.0` multiplied by
0.0f. Twelve byte-id-gate-blind both-wrong miscompiles, all this one cause
(compare, binop, call-arg, struct-field, array-elem against an untyped
literal).

Broaden coerce_floatlit to stamp the untyped fconst type_=f32 across the
f32-context sites (assign rhs, call-arg, struct-field, array-elem) and to
descend the implicit-cast shapes (peel unary +/-/cast, recurse binop
operands AND the binop node, recurse arrlit elems), mirroring harec's
lower_implicit_cast. The existing CVTSD2SS gate then fires; cgen is
unchanged. f64 contexts are untouched -- the stamp is gated on TY_F32.

Surfaced by the float codegen sub-hunt (= the deferred #120). Pinned by
test/lang/f32_untyped_narrow_test.ww (22 value-asserting rows incl. f64
controls; reddens on revert).

1f1efb273a check: gate C-style ... to bodiless decls, both stages (#11)
A bodied fn with a bare C-style `...` was silently accepted by cstage
and SEGFAULTED wwstage (resolvefnbody walked a typeless `...` param).
Gate it: bare C-`...` is allowed only on bodiless decls (extern /
@symbol prototypes), the real FFI path; Hare-style `T...` is unaffected.

ww restricts C-`...` to bodiless decls pending vastart/vaarg/vaend
builtins (#16); harec permits bodied C-variadic fns (check.c:3656) -- a
documented divergence, reopened when #16 lands.

Test 852 runs both stages; its reject rows require the gate's diagnostic
(not merely a nonzero exit), so a crash can't pass them vacuously.

027f90c572 parse,check,type,wwi: @packed struct attribute, both stages (#51)
Hare/harec @packed struct layout: no inter-field or trailing padding, align =
max field align (NOT forced to 1) — matches harec type_store.c + types.c:621
(packed{u8,u64}=size 9/align 8). Parser consumes inline @packed (loud-rejects
unknown struct attrs, both stages); layout gates padding on !packed; cstage
type_eq enforces packed type-distinctness; the .wwi producer round-trips
"struct @packed {". wwstage sets slotsize=size for packed so its composite-ABI
copy matches cstage byte-for-byte. cstage identity is faithful; wwstage identity
rides the deferred #224 nominal-resolvealias arc (#108). Both stages byte-id;
447 tests pass.

939c984f51 wcc,ww: prepend synth use test; user fn run coexists with runner (M4 E2, #80)
The -T harness synthesized `use test;` after name-binding, so the lib/test runner run keyed the bare scope and collided with a user-defined bare fn run — a spurious "duplicate fn run" reject (the E1 tolerance seam). Prepending the synth use before binding keys the runner as test.run in the test module namespace, distinct from the user bare run; the two coexist. Hare-faithful: the runner is its own test module (ref/hare/test/+test.ha:97). Inverts attest_userrun.ww from the #23-mandated reject to a coexist fixture; gate asserts exactly 1 TEXT run + 1 TEXT test.run on the -T asm (distinct symbols, not a dead-dup). Closes #80.

37c253c367 wcc,ww: @test under separate compilation (M4 E1, #79)
Make `ww test --sep` work the Hare +test way: the -T synth test-main emits a
qualified test.run, and the test package is injected as an ordinary
separately-compiled dependency instead of splicing lib/test source into a
flat unit. Additive — combined stays the default and 910/997 are untouched
(their migration is M4 E2).

- compiler synth (both stages): the -T main emits N_DOT test.run plus a
  synthetic N_USE "test"; cmd/wcc/check.c + selfhost/cmd/wcc/check.ww.
- driver (both stages): build_one_sep gains is_test, injects the test package
  as a root dep, and passes -T to the root; do_test --sep routes a single-file
  test through the sep producer; cmd/ww/main.c + selfhost/cmd/ww/main.ww.
- 989_septest_run gate: ww test --sep on both stages, run-exit + cs==ww
  byte-id of the sep .s, non-vacuous.

The synth's test.run is left ty_err by the checker in both regimes (lib/test's
run is scope-keyed under "" not "test"; cgen emits the correct CALL via run's
//ww:module test directive) — wwstage tolerates it like cstage (rule-10). The
genuine fix, module-keying run under sep so the call type-resolves, is #80.

w6c_ww/wwdump_ww/ww_ww move (their embedded source changed); w6a_ww/w6l_ww and
the combined codegen output are unchanged.

f308818b4b wcc/ww: mangle imported symbols on dotted import path (#22 M1, #32)
Switch symbol mangling from the import leaf clause to the full dotted import path for directory packages; single-file imports keep package-clause mangling (isdir-gate: imported<=>directory-import). The root build unit's fn main stays bare, every other top-level decl mangles, closing #31's duplicate-main hazard by construction (#32). Both stages, byte-identical.

Single commit, not split: the bare rename (f244af3) is red on its own because it unmasks cross-module resolution gaps that do not reproduce pre-M1, so the fixes are intrinsic to making the rename correct. Included: wwstage fnret/fnparamslookupmod map import alias->path (#199b cross-module union-variant scrutinee resolved the wrong fn's union); cstage use_path prefers the referencing module's import for an ambiguous leaf alias (sha256 crypto.math vs strconv math). Tests table-driven: 989_m1mangle_run/_sym, 989_m1union_run (gate-visible per-arm exit codes + cs==ww byte-id).

34c1051a63 wcc/ww: reject a duplicate top-level main (F-D)
A second top-level decl named `main` (fn/let/def/type) collides with
the entry main on the single bare `main` symbol: today both lower to a
bare `main`, w6l silently accepts the duplicate, and the program links
rc=0 then segfaults (or runs wrong), in both stages. The existing
duplicate-decl rejects key on (name, module), so a cross-module
`foo.main` vs the bare entry `main` read as distinct and slip through.

Add a program-global, name-only, cross-module uniqueness check on
`main` in the checker (both stages), colocated with the duplicate-decl
rejects and counting user decls before the -T synthesized test main.
Corpus-safe: a lone `fn main` in any package stays legal (ww has no
package-main convention -- cmatrix/lisp/mandelbrot are non-main-package
entries and keep building). This converts the silent segfault to a
loud compile error and subsumes the w6l silent-dup-main case (#31);
correct package-aware mangling of a non-entry main is deferred to the
root-unit entry-detection work (#22/#32).

Regenerates the w6c and wwdump combined.ww. Table-driven 842 test:
reject rows for let/fn/def/type main (genuine cross-module import form)
plus a negative single-main corpus-safe row that must still build+run.

556a65ee86 wcc: general call-arg typecheck via assignability union, both stages
wwstage's desugarcallargs ran no general per-arg typecheck (only the
narrow #258 array-to-slice arm): any mistyped scalar call-arg silently
miscompiled (int read as a 24B slice header; the -T face was a user
const __wwtests building a garbage test binary). Route every call-arg
through the predicate union isassignable()||assignableaddrfn(),
mirroring cstage type_assignable||assignable_addrfn and the check.c:1869
diagnostic. Confident scalar/aggregate and aggregate/aggregate
kind-mismatch rejects live in shared isassignable; the concrete-to-
tagged arm is shape-matched-lenient via tagshape() (AST mirror of cgen
taggedvariantindext) so genuine variant members keep flowing while
shape-mismatched aggregates reject. Reserve __wwtests under -T in both
stages (mirror the main reservation, check.c:2996). New table-driven
989_callarg_typecheck, 31 fixtures, reject rows proven red on pre-fix
binaries.

Deferred, filed, site-commented: the assign seam rides #178->#36
(typeeqast cannot compare variadic/module-qualified fn sigs); the
same-coarse-shape same-leaf nominal collision over-accept rides #37
(#10/#66 — the distinguishing module is absent from the AST surface
isassignable operates on).

16c83e70d3 ww test: fork-isolated record-and-continue harness (lib/test, both stages)
lib/test/run.ww: fork+wait4 runner; each @test runs in its own child,
abort/SEGV/FPE decoded from wait-status, failures recorded and the run
continues; exit = fail count. Tests are hermetic: module globals do not
persist test-to-test (fresh fork image; sanctioned divergence from
harec's shared-process __test_main, no setjmp/signal layer needed).
-T synth (both stages) emits a module-global (str,*fn() void) table +
return run(table) instead of straight-line calls. Driver twins bundle
lib/test under test mode and gain ww test -c/-o (go test -c) so the
byte-id gates diff the same artifact the real path builds. Gates

9f8df525c2 wcc/check: reject self-import, both stages (#16 ENFORCE-checker)
check-(c): a package importing itself (any spelling) is a hard error,
mirroring Go. Predicate is leaf==owner at the N_USE/installdecl seam —
sound only after the PREP commits (dotted-test renames, package-less
boundary directive). Identical wording both stages; diagnostics-only,
byte-id-neutral. 948 pins the reject in both compilers; 708's
pos_selfimp (which pinned the abolished self-import skip) converts to
neg_selfimp + new pos_crossmod preserving the param-shadow tolerance
the case existed for. Checks (a) unused and (b)/(d) name-membership
stay deferred to the multi-package arc: imports are filename-keyed
pulls, so those need import->file provenance this compiler lacks.

b795c320c9 wcc: -T test-mode collects @test fns + synthesizes entry, both stages (#15)
@test was parsed then dropped (no consumer); `ww test` needed a hand-written
main listing each test by hand, so adding a @test and forgetting the call
silently skipped it. -T makes the checker collect @test N_FNDECLs in source
order, loud-reject a user main, and append a synthetic
`export fn main() i32 { t0(); ...; return 0; }` at the install->body-check seam;
the existing cgfn emits it (cgen untouched) -> byte-identical by construction.
Mirrors harec's checker-side is_test placement.

Plan-9-lean reduction (user-sanctioned, reinstatable post-CSP): sequential,
abort/nonzero=fail; no setjmp isolation, no fnmatch filter, no file:line.

910/997 rewired from a regex scanner to driving `w6c -T` directly (thin trusted
drivers; the @test content stays ww), with a cross-stage byte-id assert on the
-T output. attest_userman/attest_badsig pin the user-main and bad-signature
rejects.

ebd5b8014c wcc/check: #150 inferred-type module-global Sym repoint (cstage, #18)
Every inferred-type module-global -- let n = 5; ... return n, or
let g = pt{...}; g.a -- yielded <nil> downstream in cstage: the module
N_LET pass-2 stamped d->type from the initializer but never repointed the
Sym, so later references resolved the still-unstamped Sym. The wwstage
checker already repointed correctly, so this aligns cstage UP (cstage-only;
no combined.ww / check.ww change, w6c_ww unchanged).

Mirrors the #11 [_]-array repoint. The fix is shape-agnostic (keyed on the
unstamped Sym, not the use site) -- verified across scalar/field/arg/index/
str/match/nested inferred-global shapes. Commit B of #150 (Commit A 5c37648
fixed the by-value struct-arg cgen). A pure inferred ARRAY global is now
correct in cstage but trips wwstage asserttyped -- opposite-stage, filed
#125-class. byte-id 990-997 8/8. test/wcc/823 table-driven.

03fc7c7abe wcc/check: #14 reject def-global scalar str index (silent segfault) (both stages)
def S:str = "hi"; S[0] silently segfaulted: a def is a compile-time
constant, never materialized as DATA (unlike let), so indexing it emitted
an unbacked main.S(SB) reference -> cstage ran into frame garbage,
wwstage link-failed. str[i] itself is valid ww (a deliberate Go-like
str[i]->u8 byte-index that lib/strings compare/dup depend on), so the fix
is narrow: the N_INDEX TY_STR arm now rejects an index whose operand is a
bare SK_DEF scalar-str symbol, both stages -- 'cannot index a def-constant
str; bind it to a let'. INDEX-ONLY: len(S) and &S are already loud, and a
def's .len/.ptr field reads (the load-bearing w6l INTERP) are N_DOT, a
different arm, and stay valid.

A rule-9 WHY-comment records str[i]->u8 as a sanctioned divergence from
Hare's strings.toutf8. The full make-it-work fold (len(S)->2, S[0]->byte)
is deferred (#16). byte-id 990-997 8/8. test/wcc/821 table-driven.

29a2ab2a72 wcc/check: #9 reject explicit [N]=[init] over-fill incl [0] (both stages)
An explicit [N]T = [init] with more initializers than N silently
mis-compiled for N==0: the over-fill length-mismatch check was suppressed
when alen==0, because alen==0 doubles as the [_] infer-sentinel after
resolve_type collapses the two. So def/let [0]int=[1,2] silently resized
(cstage exit 2) or OOB-read/segfaulted (wwstage) instead of the loud
length-mismatch that [N]=[init>N] gets everywhere else.

The AST keeps the distinction the Type loses: [_] leaves the N_TARRAY
length-child NULL, an explicit [N] carries N_INTLIT. cstage adds an
is_infer_arr() helper, drops the alen>0 exemption at the over-fill check,
and gates the 4 infer-resize/no-init sites on is_infer_arr so an explicit
[0] flows to the over-fill -> loud. wwstage flips the one shared count
gate (checkarrlitfits) from declen>0 to arrtn.rhs!=nil, which also
dissolves a wwstage local-resize/module-OOB inconsistency.

[_] inference, [0]=[] empty, and [_]-no-init louding all preserved.
Under-long (count<N) stays out of scope (#10). byte-id 990-997 8/8.

1c87881bda wcc/check: GAP-A .cap-on-array loud-reject; .ptr-on-array ratified valid (#12)
.cap on a fixed-size array is invalid (Hare has no capacity-read; arrays
can't grow) -> both stages now loud-reject at the checker. wwstage was
silently returning frame garbage for a local array's .cap; cstage typed
it then vaguely rejected at use. Unified to one early checker reject with
an identical diagnostic both stages.

.ptr on a fixed-size array is ratified VALID: array.ptr is &A[0], a
sanctioned ww spelling divergence from Hare; see task #13. The toolchain
already relies on it in 14 backing-pointer sites. WHY-doc added at both
checker .ptr-on-array sites. The def-global .ptr cgen base-selection bug
(#11) is a separate following commit.

Valid-program asm unchanged (byte-id 990-997 8/8); w6c/w6c_ww binaries
move (checker code changed). test/wcc/817 table-driven, model 684.

0c5482fad0 wcc/check: #11 def [_]T length-inference — stamp the def decl path, the #7 let-twin (both stages)
def xs:[_]T=arrlit was sized 0 (no DATA emitted, garbage indexed reads) on BOTH stages, byte-id-identical: #7 wired [_] length-inference only on the let decl path, never def. cstage check.c N_DEF pass-2 infers the length from the initialiser and re-points both d->type and the SK_DEF Sym (an indexed read resolves the def through its Sym); wwstage check.ww runs inferarraylen before resolvewalk. Checker-only — cgen lays the DATA correctly once the length is stamped. w6c and wwdump combined.ww regen'd (both embed the wcc checker).

Pin: table-driven test/wcc/814_def_arr_infer_len (index reads int/u8/2d + 1-elem edge + negative build-fail), teeth-proven against a reverted inference. Filed separately, not folded (rule-11): def-global .len GAP-A (#7 cgdot twin), def str-array element DATA GAP-B (#270), [0]T-vs-[_] alen==0 conflation (pre-existing in the #7 let path too).

f1dcd4ecae wcc/check: #141 def-dim array as struct field — fold def in dim, shared arrayelen across 3 ww readers (both stages)
A def-dimensioned array [MAX]u8 used as a struct field was BOTH-WRONG: cstage
loud-rejected ("array length must be an integer literal"); wwstage silently
sized the dim to 0, so the next field overlapped it (frame-smash). The
reference is neither stage — it is Hare: accept + fold the def.

cstage: fold the def into the dim via eval_def_const. The fold needs def NAMES
visible when resolve_typedecl walks struct bodies, so a stub loop binds
def-name stubs (type=NULL, filled in place by the existing def loop) before
resolve_typedecl — this extends check_file's existing names-first USE+TYPEDECL
pass to DEFs; def-TYPE resolution stays in its original order, and the
kind-filtered type lookup (#225) keeps the SK_DEF stub out of type position.

wwstage: one shared arrayelen(c, rhs) (INTLIT -> uval; else evaldefconst;
else 0) routed through astsize / tinfofornode / checkarrlitfits.

Closes #13's def-dim cstage-reject half (the slice-repeat clause stays open).
Pin test/wcc/951 (5 rows incl a cross-module os.PATH_MAX dim + a ~4KB shape;

d0a1e2a221 wcc/check: #133 const-expr scalar module-global — fold+stamp let-init like def, emit DATA (both stages)
A module-global let with a const-expr init (let s = 7*6) emitted NO DATA word: cstage LINK-FAILed (undefined main.s, loud), wwstage was SILENT (no DATA, MOVSXD on stale AX, exit 152). The DEF pass-2 arm already const-folds + stamps its rhs to N_INTLIT (the #88 eval_def_const/stamp_intlit machinery); the LET pass-2 arm omitted it. Mirror it: after the assignability check, fold the rhs and stamp N_INTLIT when the plain-literal fold missed AND the const-fold succeeded. The existing DATA-emit downstream then fires (DATAW 42 + load). Both stages, byte-identical. Closes the inferred const-expr global and the typed b-ii case (let s:i64=7*6, link-fail both stages) with one stamp.

Gated on genuine int-const success (the eval return value, not the out-param): str/struct/slice/call/runtime-operand rhs short-circuit before the stamp and are left untouched — never zeroed. Non-const rhs stays on its current loud route; div-by-zero stays loud. Latent in selfhost (no const-expr module globals → 990-997 byte-id unchanged).

Pin: 947 rows C1 inferred 7*6, C2 typed b-ii, C3 def-ref K*7, C4 unary-over-binop, C5 div-by-zero loud-guard; cs==ww byte-id.

c9cfa52624 wcc/check: #103/#108 inferred untyped-int defaults to int (8B), both stages
cstage type_default(TY_UNTYPED_INT) returned ty_i32 (4B): an unannotated
`let x = <v>` / `let a = [<v>,..]` silently TRUNCATED any value > 2^31
(5000000000 -> 705032704) and strode inferred arrays at 4. wwstage kept
the element raw untyped_int (size 0), which sized INCONSISTENTLY across
cgen — the array STORE strode the 8 sentinel but letslotsize under-
allocated the frame (SEGV) and cgindex strode the READ at 1. The two
stages were each wrong differently; #263 polarity: cstage was the
truncating side. int = machine word = 8B (Go-style, MEMORY
project_int_machine_word_derived_limits); Hare lowers a flexible iconst
to `int`, never a fixed i32 (ref/harec/src/types.c:835).

Fix, one root, both stages (FUSE — the cs default + the ww concrete
element must land together, else the inferred array is transient cs!=ww):
- cmd/wcc/type.c type_default(TY_UNTYPED_INT) ty_i32 -> ty_int. The
  root; stops scalar AND array truncation at source.
- cmd/wcc/check.c N_ARRLIT empty-elt fallback ty_i32 -> ty_int. Symmetric
  pair; count-0 array emits no stores, so byte-id-neutral.
- selfhost/cmd/wcc/check.ww exprtype N_ARRLIT: default the inferred
  element's untyped flavor to concrete (untyped_int->int, _float->f64,
  _str->str, _rune->rune, _bool->bool, mirror cstage type_default),
  empty-elt "i32"->"int", and stamp the synthesized N_TARRAY's .type_ so
  slotsize / elemsizeofc / letslotsize read its real [N]int size via the
  type table (rule-13) — no letslotsize special-case (SSoT).
combined.ww regen (check.ww embed): w6c + wwdump.

ken v2 corpus re-census (160 files): EXACTLY 5 rows move, ALL CONVERGE

  m8_range2  #104 over 2-level alias
  m8_slice1  #103 inferred array + alias-slice init
  m8_slice2  #103 + 2-level-alias slice + re-slice
Bootstrap byte-id neutral (5 combined units w6c==w6c_ww; 0 bare inferred

4b118fa8f8 cgen: B7 emitter elem chases + tools/peellint gate — #5 alias-arc cs side closed by construction
The last four raw `->under` reads outside the whitelist were the
static-DATA emitters' ELEMENT-type single peels (the outer type already
chased): emit_array_lit_bytes:14356, emit_strarray_data:14574,
emit_slice_data:14788, let_pre_intern:15088 -> type_chase_named.
:15088 is the :14574 row's label-order leg and must flip in the same
commit or _S_ labels intern in emit order, not decl order (the in-tree
comment at the site); the strarr row's byte-id is the coupling proof.

Behavior moves (ken B7 first-position oracle + impl pre-state, all
pre-observed at 05f7af7):
- [N]alias-struct + [N]alias-str globals graduate cs link-ERR
  ("undefined reference") -> 0/0 BYTE-ID (cs emits ww's DATAW).
- zero-consumer latent silence closed: a never-referenced
  2-level-elem-alias global silently lacked DATA (no reference, no
  link error); now emits, pinned by the byte-id cell.
- []alias-str diagnostic routing: the alias escaped the 3-way
  slice-of-{str,slice,tagged} fatal onto the downstream "not a
  foldable constant" text — now the intended 3-way text (== control).
- []alias-tagged DESIGNED NARROWING: the alias dodged the 3-way fatal
  ENTIRELY — cs silently accepted + RAN WRONG for reachable consumer
  shapes (review-verified at base: a len+payload-read probe exits 1;
  the len-only row was luck-correct). Now loud with the 3-way text;
  widen what the gate SEES, never what it ACCEPTS (B6-c2 precedent).
- kb7_slc/slc0 scalar legs byte-NEUTRAL (the synthesized-array
  choke-point already handled them); full kb corpus sweep: movers are
  exactly the two graduation shapes, nothing else.

tools/peellint (sizelint clone, dep of test/test-unit): character-scan
strips comments and string/char literals, then matches the under-token
accessor-spelling-wide — `->under`/`.under` in C (deref-dot is the
same peel), `.under` in ww, optional whitespace after the operator,
and the line-split continuation (operator at EOL, `under` next line).
Scope cmd/wcc + cmd/w6c + selfhost/cmd/wcc + lib/ww (lib/ww/typ.ww
ruled IN — it is type.c's ww mirror, the accessor layer itself);
`peel-ok`/`peellint-ok` annotations exempt a 10-line window. Green at
this tip = zero unwhitelisted raw peels survive; the gate lands in the
commit that deletes the last raw read (the-funnel-completing-commit-
carries-the-gate; sizelint precedent). Whitelist, 27 entries:
  cmd/wcc/type.c    :78 :141 construction, :162 chase body,
                    :180 :193 :214 recursive chase
  cmd/wcc/check.c   :102 :2572 resolve-state probes, :2586 construction
  cmd/w6c/cgen.c    :731 probe-cleared scan peel (B5-c1),
                    :813/:814 :834/:835 peel-ok #218 variant-match
  lib/ww/typ.ww     :316 construction, :374 :385 :410 :437 :447 :463
                    :475 :488 :514 recursive chase
  selfhost/cmd/wcc/cgenutil.ww :1302 chase body (tichase),
                    :2759 probe-cleared peel
  selfhost/cmd/wcc/check.ww    :1815 construction (peellint-ok)

Negative validation wired into 944_peellint_gate (B4 precedent):
re-introduced raw peel (C and ww spellings) REDS the lint; corrupted
annotation (peel-okk-…, token-bounded matcher) REDS the lint; the
check.ww:3683 "io.underread" prose, a code read of a longer field, and
comment-quoted tokens are pinned green regression rows; real tree must
lint clean. 944_alias_emit_b7_run pins all four emit paths
table-driven (14 rows / 36 checks) incl. ken's ww observation cells
(ww checker rejects slice-literal globals, "let: not assignable" —
unmoved; plain []str louds at ww's own emitslicedata 3-way, pinned by
the shared needle).

REVIEW AMENDMENT (reviewer-B7, fix-what-you-find): the frozen tip's
regex matcher passed five compiling evasion spellings green — `t ->
under` spacing, `t->`/EOL + `under` next-line (both stages; ww parses
`t.`/EOL too), C deref-dot `(*t).under`, ww `t. under`, and a string
literal containing a block-comment opener that blinded the regex
comment-strip for the rest of the file. The matcher is now a
character scan (comments + string/char literals stripped before
matching) with the widened token rule above; all six spellings are
pinned RED rows in 944_peellint_gate (checks 10 -> 16). The 10-line
annotation window stays as designed (a peel within an annotation's
window is exempt by construction — the window IS the exemption
mechanism). Lint + test bytes only; zero compiler-source bytes moved
in review.

What this does NOT close, said out loud (f2-ruling): a consumer that
never spells `under` at all — a switch on t->kind that simply never
peels — has no token for the lint to see. The accessor+lint closes the
WRONG-PEEL class (single-peel where chase was needed) by construction;
the NO-PEEL class is closed only at sites where classification routes
through the internalized chasing helpers, and contained elsewhere by
the acceptance-commit-carries-tripwires doctrine, which stays standing
for every future acceptance widening. The gate does not make alias
bugs impossible; it makes the four-times-burned shape unwritable.

Rule-11 note: forced fuse — the four conversions ARE the last raw-read
deletions; peellint cannot be green one commit earlier (consumer-graph
-forces-the-fuse precedent, #61).

Invariants: cs asm byte-NEUTRAL on the whole bootstrap corpus (five
mains + smoke, base-input pre==post); five mains cs==ww byte-id at
tip; _ww binary quartet bit-identical to the W2 baseline (ww changes
are comment-only annotation bytes — codegen-inert, proven by the md5
hold); w6c_ww+wwdump main.combined.ww regen'd via make, idempotent;
989 lib ratchet zero flips (31 byte-id / 9 pinned-divergent / 3
pinned-wwreject across 43 units); sizelint 0; peellint 0;
make test-unit "all 294 tests passed" (292 + the two new suites).

9bd0d8bc81 wcc: #5 F1 promote type_chase_named + transitive-peel acceptance align-cs-up
Promote type_chase_named from cmd/w6c/cgen.c (static) to cmd/wcc/type.c
(exported via ww.h) and re-route every checker single-NAMED-peel through
it: check.c's ~28 inline ternaries + 3 ad-hoc loops, type.c's
assignability/untyped/borrow/opaque peels. type_eq's nominal identity
(check.c:114) and the resolve machinery guards stay untouched.

The re-route IS the acceptance align-up — cstage loud-rejected alias
shapes wwstage accepts AND runs Hare-right (F0 census, harec dealiases
at every consumer):
- #54 binop alias-vs-base: unify_arith gains the harec type_promote arm
  (ref/harec/src/check.c:1083-1105) — one-sided alias + dealias-equal
  promotes to the ALIAS side; alias-vs-alias stays rejected.
- alias-cond family: if/for/&&/||/! chase-then-bool (harec
  check.c:2141/2515/3229/3572). assert stays loud (F0 2a symmetric).
- #70 field access through 2-level alias chains (ken c3_chain3).
- assignability through the full chain (harec types.c:989-996
  dealias-both): return/init/assign legs, F0 8b idx/slice walls.
- alias-of-ptr deref (harec types.c:19-22 type_dereference).

The widening reaches cgen arms whose own single peels then misbehaved —
both classes are closed IN THIS COMMIT so no intermediate state ships a
loud->silent flip (bisect no-silent invariant):
- index family: the 8b acceptance hit ptr-load base + esz=1 (SEGV /
  prefix-luck) — idx_eff + the N_INDEX read / index-write / &base[i] /
  N_SLICE (expr + call-arg) / N_FORRANGE / aggarg_srcaddr-index /
  castsrcprim-dot / match-field base classifies chase.
- kind classifiers (ken #61-root-verify v3 find): a 2-level f64 alias
  param reached cg_isfloat's single peel and classified INT — silent
  wrong-register-class. cg_isfloat / type_isf32 / fld_isfloat /
  type_isstr / type_isslice chase. ken's v3 row is pinned with credit.

Bootstrap asm is byte-identical before/after (w6c on every
main.combined.ww cmp-equal vs a pristine 738d7f4 scratch; 989
lib_byteid pins unchanged): 2-level chains were checker-walled pre-F1,
so no previously-accepted program changes shape.

test: 944_alias_accept_run (20 rows): acceptance graduations pinned
runtime + byte-id both stages; idx/slice/range/slice-param rows cs-only
until the wwstage #60 esz family lands (F2 batch 1); cs-only
harec-parity loud pin for alias-vs-alias binop; assert stays-loud row;
ken-v3 + f64/str/slice kind rows. Mutation-checked at 738d7f4.

reviewer-F1 fold — the same invariant, outside the F0 census: this
commit ADMITS 2+-level alias slice/str/aggregate types in STRUCT FIELD
position, therefore this commit must keep them correct-or-loud. The
cgen FIELD-TYPE gates single-peeled, so the slice/str 3-word arms fell
to word0-only scalar tails — accept-and-corrupt, ww correct, every
shape loud at the pristine base. Chased (probe-proven, byte-id
graduations): single-dot field store + via-ptr twin, struct-lit fill,
chained store-walk LEAF (the #71 walk chases hops, not leaves),
chained-ptr-field store, single-dot / via-ptr / chained-walk field
reads (clobber-probed — word0 reads luck-passed on stale BX/CX). The
six unprobed sibling gates (indexed-elem store/read, ptr-chain read,
heap fill, tuple-elem read, static emit) hard-error via
fld_alias_tripwire on a 2+-level alias over an aggregate base, citing
task #73 (the family's scheduled chase); <=1-level and scalar bases
never fire — zero behavior change for any pre-#5-legal program (five
selfhost mains cmp-identical vs the pristine 738d7f4 scratch).
test: 944 +11 rows (9 K_RUN byte-id, wholeread K_RUN_CS [#60 ww half +
pre-existing 1-level read-spine divergence], #73 tripwire
K_BUILDERR_CS pin); 1-level controls per gate in /tmp/revF1.

738d7f481c wcc/check: #62 typedecl layout is decl-order-INDEPENDENT — demand-resolve forward refs + loud cycle guard (#69)
check_file resolved typedecl bodies in file order with an eager
under->size copy, so any body referencing a typedecl declared LATER
read its size-0 placeholder and baked it in: alias size 0, tagged-
union maxsz 0 (the F0 m5_match $48-frame under-allocated box), struct
field offsets collapsed, array element stride 0 — a whole cstage-only
family (7 size()-probe rows, all cs-fail/ww-pass pre-fix). wwstage's
demand-driven tinfofornode was order-independent on every row, so this
aligns cstage UP to the measured runtime-correct side (the #263-era
ruling; rule 10's align-down governs acceptance surface, not layout
correctness). Oracle: ken /tmp/ken_62_oracle.md — union size is 8B tag
+ roundup8(max CHASED member size), a fixed point over the module,
never a function of decl order.

resolve_typename now resolves a referenced-but-unresolved typedecl on
demand via resolve_typedecl (cycle-guarded by Type.resolving); the
pass-1.5 loop funnels through the same helper. No consumer can see an
unresolved placeholder by construction.

CYCLE GUARD — #69 ABSORBED into this rider (rob's rider condition):
true typedecl cycles now LOUD-reject on BOTH stages — "circular type
dependency" — mirroring harec's in_progress check (ref/harec/src/
check.c:4767 "Circular dependency for '%s'"). Pre-guard: cs silently
sized cycles 0; wwstage HUNG on an alias cycle (`type a = b; type
b = a` — ken's hang probe /tmp/ken62/c1_cycle.ww, killed at the 20s
timeout) and stack-overflowed on a struct value cycle. The check sits
at the VALUE-position size consumers only (alias root, struct field,
array elem, tuple member, union member), so the legal pointer
self-ref (`type node = struct { next: *node }`, the io.stream shape)
stays accepted, byte-id. wwstage gets the twin tinfo.resolving flag
(lib/ww/typ.ww) + circularnamed in check.ww; its arm loud-STOPS
(os.exit) rather than accumulating — wwstage's AST-level alias
walkers (resolvealias, aliaslookup chains) follow TNAME->TNAME by
name, blind to the tinfo table, and spin on a cyclic alias graph even
after the table edge is cut to tyerr (measured); cstage accumulates,
its single-peel ternaries cannot loop.

TWO-LAYER SPLIT — this is ONE bug number (#62) deliberately split
across THREE commits (this rider + F1 + F2), per ken's sizes-correct ≠
payload-correct proof: in NORMAL decl order both stages size the box
correctly (16/24, frames $64) yet both still run exit 2 — the box
STORE is word0-only, a chase-blind copy-WIDTH lookup in cgen, NOT the
type table. EXPECTED-FAIL after this commit: m5b_match1/m5_match stay
exit-2 both stages (now byte-id BOTH orders; pre-fix the fwd order was
$48-frame divergent). The Layer-2 sites and destinations:
  - F1 (cstage): cg_widen_tagged_store single NAMED peel,
    cmd/w6c/cgen.c ~2464 — the type_chase_named census family.
  - F2 (wwstage): rhsstructpayload bare name-keyed structlookup, no
    alias chase, selfhost/cmd/wcc/cgenutil.ww:3062 (structlookupchain
    :1691 already exists).
Banked runtime payload-readback rows for F1/F2: /tmp/impl62r_layer2_rows.md.

Test 944_alias_decl_order_size_run: every size class pinned in BOTH
decl orders (sizes, named union, struct field offsets, array elem,
2-level chain — norm + fwd twins, prefix-luck-breaking last-word
readbacks), 3 cycle BUILDERR rows + the legal ptr-self-ref row,
(void|base) no-regress control; dual-stage + per-row byte-id (arrelem
rows byte-id exempt: pre-existing #60 index-over-alias divergence,
order-independent, cited at the rows). lib/ww/typ.ww is an embedded
source: both main.combined.ww regen'd + committed (freshness gate).

24e02b259c wcc/check: inferred-let tuple literal carries its slot-layout size — 0-size local smashed saved BP/RIP (#44)
The N_TUPLE expr arm built its TY_TUPLE with size 0 (only the
annotated N_TTUPLE resolve_type route computed the layout), and
type_default passes TY_TUPLE through, so an inferred
`let t = (4: size, 2: size)` planted a 0-size local at offset 0 —
the element stores landed on the saved BP/RIP and main segfaulted
on RET (cstage; the arg shape instead fell to the global-symbol
path and link-failed). wwstage (exprtype N_TUPLE -> tinfofornode)
was runtime-correct throughout — cstage aligns UP to it; all
fixed shapes are now byte-id. Slot rule mirrors the N_TTUPLE twin
and cgen tuple_eslot, with untyped elements sized at their
type_default (element types stay untyped for the consumer-side
assignability contract).

7 table rows in 941 pin the class (cast/bare/mixed/float elems,
destructure-from-local, call-arg, nested); each fails at master
e8977a4 cstage (segfault or link-fail + byte-id NO).

66991585d6 wcc+w6c+w6c_ww: tagged tuple elements take their full slot — tuple_eslot accessor (#22a)
slot = roundup8(size(elem)) — 8B is a FLOOR, not a ceiling (user-
ratified 2026-06-04; the #237 fieldslotsize precedent; (str,str)=48B
predates this — tagged was the one truncated >8B kind). Pre-fix the
checkers truncated a tagged element to one 8B slot and every cgen
transport walk strode wide=(STR||SLICE)-else-8: cstage read the
NEIGHBOR slot, wwstage read ZEROS — both-wrong-differently, so the
byte-id gates were blind (prober-9 PG1, /tmp/p9).

One stride accessor per stage — tuple_eslot (cgen.c) / tupeslot
(cgenstmt.ww) — now feeds every tuple walk; the per-site predicates
are deleted as absorbed. Sizer: check.c N_TTUPLE + check.ww
tupleelemslot gain the TY_TAGGED arm (astsize already rides the type
table since commit 0). Routes flipped to the accessor, both stages
symmetric: cursor producers (lit/slot-to-cursor; tagged ident
elements load their box from the slot — cgexpr's tagged ident load
is word0-only), let-receive (tuple_store/tupstore generalized to
eslot/8 words), N_RETURN send, by-value param receive, arg
restage/drain (tagged stays loud per C-t2), destructure
(MLET/MASSIGN, ident + sret + in-cap), t.N read + len(t.N) +
global-g.N offset walks (t.N gains the tagged box load: AX=tag,
DX/CX/R8=payload — the is/as spill cursor), sret classifier, DATA
emit. wwstage cgtagvariantidx gains the #67 stamped-carrier arm
(flatvariantidxt on .type_) — its AST-only key silently clamped
't.0 is size' to tag 0; fused here because the tuple-element read
this commit wires is its only exercisable consumer.

Exit invariant: zero silent tagged-tuple paths — in-cap shapes
(<=4 GP eightbytes) are correct end-to-end; everything else is LOUD:
over-cap sret return (#22b, task #28), call-arg (C-t2 #32),
non-local literal element sources (#22b/#23), tuple-in-union payload
(#242/#22b), global static-init, element write (pre-existing).
Closure proof-grep at HEAD: 'tuple_ebytes|tupebytes' -> 0 hits;
'wide.*=.*(TY_SLICE|TY_STR)' tuple-walk survivors are all behind
tagged loud-guards (cgen.c:2535/2568/12013 widen-store + over-cap
send; cgenutil.ww:3527 twin).

Latent cross-checks closed by the accessor: wwstage MLET-sret strode
esz (4 for i32) vs cstage 8; wwstage param-receive strode slotsize
(composite slotsize) vs cstage 8; both now the accessor's floor-8.
Tagged inits in pins use the CAST form (5: size) — the bare
untyped-int widen-store mis-tag is pre-existing at master and filed
(task #33).

941 gains 13 rows: t22_* size/align folds (+ void-elem 0-slot pin),
the full runtime round-trip (read, is/as, both element orders, void
variant, destructure, literal-let), two-tagged-elem in-cap and
float+tagged in BOTH orders (ken k1/k2 regression-pinned as rows),
t.N-as-call-arg, 5 loud pins (arg, over-cap return, call-source
element, global init, element write), and the sret_narrow_mix_*
triple below. Runtime rows exit-checked under both drivers +
byte-id. 129/129; unit tests green; sizelint clean.

ken R1 (re-validation fix): an OVER-CAP tuple init whose rhs is not a
CALL fell past every cstage N_LET store arm to NOTHING — silent
uninitialized-frame reads — while wwstage loud-rejected the same
shape. Pre-existing for (str,str) literals; the #22a tagged slots
routed >16B-box tagged shapes into it (k5b/k5c/k5d, base-correct
because base truncated them in-cap). cstage now routes the rhs
through cgexpr (the cursor materialisers carry the exact wwstage
loud texts) with a trailing fatal as the net; 941 pins both the
tagged and the (str,str) spellings of the hole.

reviewer-22 (review fixes, folded): the MLET-receive slot flip above
landed ALONE on the wwstage over-cap sret family — the ww RETURN-send
and MASSIGN-receive still strode packed esz (4 for u32), so
`let (a,b,c) = f()` over (str,u32,str) read c at slot offset 32 while
ww's send wrote it packed at 28: a ww runtime REGRESSION vs base
(base was packed-consistent on both sides — ran right, byte-diff).
Both walks now stride the slot (send mirrors cstage's
`wide ? esz : 8`; MASSIGN strides tupeslotn) — closing, in the same
stroke, the pre-existing base skews: ww `let t = f()` over-cap
narrow-mix read (reader slot-laid vs send packed, runtime-wrong at
base) and the cs≠ww asm on all three routings. Second find: t.N
tagged element as a CALL ARG — cstage rides its generic
node_istaggedarg cursor push, but wwstage's kind-gated aistagged
missed N_DOT and mis-routed the box into the widening branch
(taggedvariantindex -1 clamped to 0: callee read variant 0, silent,
ww-only). cgenutil.ww gains the N_DOT arm (aistagged + pushargsrev),
the #67 stamped-carrier twin of the N_INDEX (#12) arm. The N_DOT arm
was a LIVE wwstage stdlib miscompile: hextest's import graph carried
two t.N tagged-arg sites (base .s diff = exactly the clamped-tag
PUSHQ pair) — the 989 lib-byteid ratchet caught the convergence and
#59.4 graduates to M_ID (runtime-correct per 979_hex_run). Probes:
/tmp/r22. Residual filed: tagged arg from deref/cast/unwrap sources
is a word0-only read on BOTH stages (pre-existing, base-confirmed) —
generalizing wwstage's kind gate to cstage's type-keyed check rides
that task.

1bcf2726cf wcc+w6c+w6c_ww: delete() range form delete(xs[lo:hi]) (fold-5a P2)
Hare's delete also takes a slicing place (harec check.c:1981-2027
EXPR_SLICE; Hare spells it delete(xs[i..j])): remove [lo, hi) — shift
[hi..len) down count = hi-lo strides, len -= count, cap unchanged; lo
defaults 0, hi defaults len, so delete(xs[:]) clears the slice with
storage retained. Checker accepts N_SLICE next to N_INDEX (object must
chase to a slice, harec :2024); the old range-unimplemented reject and
its #35 cite drop.

Lowering (both stages, converged byte-identical by construction) is the
single-element arm's same-slice whole-stride word-copy loop with a
DYNAMIC src offset (count*esz via a src register) instead of the
constant one-stride. Base shapes: local slice ident, deref-of-local,
plus NEW indexed local-slice base xs[g][lo:hi] — the fold-5a consumer
shape (regex.ha:333 delete(jump_idxs[group_level][..]); outer stride
off the type table). Bounds stay implicit, inheriting the documented
single-element posture (no index checks anywhere in cgen). Operands
evaluate left-to-right, exactly once, before the shift (harec order);
only the header ADDRESS is taken before operand eval, so a bound
expression's writes through the slice land before the copy.

test/809: 64 fixtures — full/explicit/re-clear/head/mid/tail/empty
a:a/end-boundary len:len/explicit 0:0 on a never-appended (nil-ptr)
slice, single-vs-range equivalence, cap preservation, esz 1/2/4/8/16/24
copy tails against the dynamic src, operand order-of-eval (lo/hi CALLs
fire once each, in order) + aliasing-visibility pins, the EXACT
[][]size regex consumer shape, deref base, 2 reject rows w/ diagnostic
text; every accept row cs==ww asm byte-id. test/804: reject_range row
retired (form now accepted), reject_nonindex text follows the widened
message.

74767c70cc wcc/check+wcc_ww/check: reject overlong array literal — frame-smash class (#71)
An array literal with more elements than the declared [N] passed the
per-element accept-if-fits checks in both stages and cgen then stored
every element at its natural offset, writing past the slot: local
frames smashed silently (the repeat form [1,2,3...] into [2]int wrote
at the saved BP), module DATA corrupted neighbours. All four
declaration contexts (local let, module let, def, struct-field
literal) funnel through one choke point per stage — arrlit_init_fits
(check.c) / checkarrlitfits (check.ww) — which now pre-counts the
literal (skipping the ... marker) and rejects count > N naming both
counts.

cstage clet's blanket has_arr_repeat bypass is narrowed to non-array
declared targets: repeat literals into arrays now run the same
overlong + #130 range checks wwstage's checkletassign always ran
(the bypass let [2]u8 = [999...] dodge the range check cstage-only).

checkarrlitfits also recurses into NESTED array-literal elements
(declared elem node N_TARRAY): cstage catches the nested shape
through its typed-literal assignability net, which wwstage's untyped
elements have no analog of — [2][2]int = [[1,2,3],[4,5]] at module
scope silently emitted corrupted DATA (1,2,4,5) and the struct-field
twin likewise. Recursion through the one choke point closes any
depth; a named-alias element type still bypasses — task #16.

alen==0/nil-length stays exempt ([0]/[_] sentinel conflation and
un-inferred [_] in def/struct-field — task #11); a non-INTLIT length
child (def-named [N]) is exempt in wwstage — task #13; under-long
literals keep their current accept (Hare rejects — task #10);
wwstage's overlong accept at assign/call-arg/return position (cstage
already rejects) is task #12; exact-fit bare-int nested cs-reject/
ww-accept divergence is pre-existing — task #17.

eea3e197c2 w6c+w6c_ww: *[N]T indexing strides by element, not whole array (#61 A+B)
Indexing through a pointer-to-array auto-derefs, so esz and the element
classification must come from the pointee array's ELEMENT (cstage
idx_eff semantics, cgen.c:1163). Two halves of one root class:

A (wwstage-only, cs!=ww, cstage runtime-correct): elemsizeofc's #270-2
nested-array block treated an N_TPTR pointee-array like a [N][M]T outer
index and returned the whole-array size — every p[i] read/write/
compound scaled by N*size(T), and the same wrong element belief reached
the store-width chooser (var-idx write emitted an N*8B aggregate copy
sourced at the 8B rhs slot: caller-frame smash, the siphash round()
corruption). Fixed via two wwstage choke-points mirroring idx_eff:
idxeffti (tinfo: NAMED peel + TY_PTR->TY_ARRAY drill; feeds elemsizeofc
and elemissignedc/elemisfloatc/elemisf32c) and idxelemtn (node: element
tnode with the same drill; feeds every cgindex/cgassign/nodeisstr/
match-scrutinee elemtn resolution).

B (BOTH stages identically wrong, byte-id-BLIND): the TK_AMP &base[i]
arm read bu->sub->size without the ptr peel (&p[3]-&a[0] = 96, not 24).
cstage now routes esz through idx_eff.

A and B are FUSED by the pre-existing routing topology, not by choice
(rule 11): wwstage's TK_AMP arm already reads its esz via elemsizeofc
(selfhost/cmd/wcc/cgenexpr.ww:4095, the #11 addr-of twin of the #10
cgindex fix), so fixing A's choke-point flips wwstage's half of B in
the same stroke. A standalone A leaves &p[i] transiently cs!=ww;
B-first is the mirror transient; carving the TK_AMP caller out of the
fixed choke-point to preserve the wrong stride for one commit would be
a deliberate known-wrong intermediate (rule-7, vetoed by rob). One
choke-point, two enrolled routes — un-fusable without a red
intermediate.

Close-by-construction proof-grep (both stages): every remaining raw
sub->size index-stride read is TY_ARRAY-gated, a slice-only builtin
(delete/insert), a checker-stamped element tinfo (indexresult already
decays *[N]T, check.ww:2277-2284), or a non-index context (tuple
slots, let-init elements). Two true residuals filed with site+symptom
instead of silently absorbed: N_SLICE through *[N]T does not decay
(LOUD type error, Hare divergence; team task #18) and non-ident
cast-expression index bases keep wwstage's 8B-default esz (pre-existing
#74-style cluster; team task #19). cstage's N_INDEX read-side
str/slice header gates also move from u->sub to esub (identical for
every non-ptr-to-array base; honest for *[N]str — pre-fix BOTH stages
were runtime-wrong there, differently).

949_ptrarr_index_run pins the class at runtime + byte-id: {1,2,4,8}B
elems, const+var idx, param/local/cast bases, read/write/compound,
neighbor guards, &p[i] pointer-difference, siphash-round mix shape.
989_lib_byteid: siphash_test graduates #59.7 DIVERGE -> ID (ratchet
tripped loud pre-update; no other #59.x pin flipped in the same run).
(*p)[i] (sub-bug C) follows separately.

fdfc2ce318 wcc+w6c+w6c_ww: tuple slot layout SSoT — checker size = cgen slot stride (C-t0)
The checker computed TY_TUPLE size as the packed element-size sum
((u32,u32) = 8B) while every cgen cursor-transport site strode 8B
slots (16B). 16B tuples were blind to the split (slot == packed);
packed tuples hit it everywhere: cstage let-receive keyed on sz 16/32
missed sz 8 and dropped word 1, the cgfn param receive spilled
8B/element into a packed-sized local (saved-BP clobber, SIGSEGV), and
mixed (u32,f64)/(u32,str) shapes missed the receive arms entirely.

Slot layout is now the SSoT (user-ratified): the flip lives in the two
checkers' N_TTUPLE size computation only (check.c, check.ww
tupleelemslot + stamp); cgen's packed-keyed walks (t.N read, #235 len
arm, over-cap sret send/receive pair) align onto the slot stride, and
the wwstage t.N read gains the natural-width load (tnodeloadop) to
byte-id with cstage's fldloadop. ttupleelem.offset re-stamped
slot-cumulative (no consumers yet). The #242/#243 eightbyte-share
loud-stop dissolves by construction (no two narrows ever share an
eightbyte) — 940's eightbyte_share row graduates to a runtime
round-trip. Hare-layout divergence documented at both checker sites;
re-alignment is task #60. #32 send skew and #33 wwstage literal-let
receive are separate commits on this base.

941_tuple_slot_layout_run pins the matrix: 4 packed rows fail at the
parent (8/21 checks), 3 neutral anchors prove 16B/32B emission
untouched.
