999b110001 wcc: forrange bindings get a per-loop scope; dup binders reject
The TODO(#11) silent-accept of `for (let (a, a) .. xs)` rested on a
stale premise -- resolvewalk has per-block scopes since #53 and IS
the live w6c_ww checker pass. Bindings now install in a per-LOOP
scope (the N_MCASE pattern), so a duplicate name within one pattern
errs "redeclared in same scope" (cstage parity via stamptuplebinds'
scopedefine-nil check) while sequential same-name loops stay legal.
kwtab restores its stated alphabetical order (`import` before `is`,
both stages, kinds swapped in lockstep with names).

cf9d83b209 wcc: enums compare nominally; folded members keep their enum stamp
Two composing defects made a two-enum union mis-tag in wwstage
(live cs!=ww: `let e: (color|shape) = shape.BALL` stored tag 0 —
the color arm — while cstage stored 1). type_eq/typeeq had no
TY_ENUM arm, so ANY two enums fell into the primitive default and
compared equal; enums are nominal (harec: an enum IS its alias
type) and now compare by node identity only. Underneath, the
wwstage post-order revisit re-stamped the constant-folded enum
member (an N_INTLIT) as untyped_int, clobbering the enum stamp the
N_DOT fold applied, so the widen matcher fell to its first-variant
fallback -- the #59.9 N_BIN guard now twins on N_INTLIT (cstage
cexpr is single-pass and never clobbered).

241f28c96b syntax: align for-header grammar to cstage (Go's three forms)
The bbdd8bed residue, ruled by the Go derivation (ww's for IS the Go
for; the cstage grammar is the language definition and already the
Go-shaped one):
- bare `for { }` accepted (align UP to parse.c:1023, incl. for-else);
- 3-clause cond and post each omissible — `for (init;; post)`,
  `for (init; cond)`, `for (init;)` (align UP, parse.c:1092-1097);
- 2-clause `for (cond; post)` REJECTED (align DOWN): the form exists
  in neither Go nor cstage (parse.c:1101 eats a stray ';' then
  requires ')'), so the old wwstage accept was a parser bug. The
  reject wording mirrors cstage's failure mode per stage.

forhdr_{brace,emptymid,partial} run fixtures pin the accepted forms
byte-identically; forhdr_twoclause_reject pins both reject fragments.
Corpus pin 1745/346/21/209/1169/3490.

184afa3243 syntax+w6c: multi-type match patterns in wwstage (align up to cstage)
`case T1 | T2 =>` (binding-less; cstage parse.c:635-650 chains extra
types through cs->list, bindings stay single-type by design). Three
wwstage layers, no AST change (node.list already exists):
- parser (expr.ww): pipe loop after the non-let arm's first
  parsetype;
- checker (check.ww): resolvewalk N_MCASE now walks n.list so each
  alt gets its type_ stamp (exhaustiveness/casecovers were already
  alt-aware, built ahead of the parser);
- cgen (cgenexpr.ww): the single-pattern want-computation moves
  VERBATIM into matcharmwant; a cs.list arm emits CMPQ/JE per alt
  funneling into one match_body label, mirroring cgen.c:11118-11141
  incl. label mint order and the tag<0 clamp. Nullable arms keep
  ignoring alts (both stages).

Graduates the held e2e row (pin 1732/1158/3464); byte-identical on
the repro and the single-pattern control.

bbdd8bede6 syntax: accept the empty for () condition (align up to cstage)
cstage parse.c:1027 accepts `for ()` — N_FOR with a nil cond, no
for-else arm, no test emitted (an unconditional loop; a deliberate
Go-flavored ww divergence from Hare, original to the toolchain
import). The wwstage parser had no RPAREN early-out and rejected it.
Selfhost checker and cgen already nil-guard n.cond, so the parser arm
is the whole gap. Graduates the held e2e row (pin 1731/1157/3462).

Adjacent asymmetries left filed, not fixed here (rule 11): the brace
form `for { }`, the empty middle clause of the 3-clause form, and
the REVERSE case (wwstage accepts 2-clause `for (cond; post)` which
cstage rejects).

d19845abd7 lib: canonicalize syntax tests to package syntax_test 2026-08-08 13:52:09 +09:00
fa4b9a134b lib: migrate every test file to the canonical *_test.ww name
25 renames (git mv, content untouched). _test.ww is what the package
coordinator's test detection and the sep loader's canonical exclusion
key on; the old *test.ww spellings survived only through the
line-leading-@test compatibility scan. Consumers updated in place:
LIBRARY_TESTS, the libbyteid roster, the 901/974/975/976 carriers that
copy or invoke these files, and the check.c/check.ww + path/ftos
comments that cite them. Closes the open-driver-work migration bullet.

5abb1e6069 wwstage: port struct embedding; graduate #59.13
The last frontend-gap pin: wwstage had no Hare struct embedding
(struct { hash.hash, ... }), rejecting lib/crypto/sha256 at parse.

- parse.ww: the three member forms (named / anonymous struct / bare
  dotted-ident embed), consume-then-branch since this parser has no
  peek; embeds carry f.str == "" and the type in f.lhs.
- check.ww N_TSTRUCT flatten: promote the inner struct's flattened
  fields at base+src.offset (check.c:961-990); the embed is one
  nested-struct unit in the slot ladder; the resolved inner AST is
  planted on the TFIELD rhs for cgen.
- check.ww walkers: astoffset / exprtype N_DOT / #251 struct-lit
  field lookups descend embeds through shared helpers; the collision
  and non-struct-embed rejects live in validatestructfields (the
  once-per-decl diagnostic site).
- cgenutil.ww registerstruct: regfieldrun walks the AST against the
  flattened tfield cursor, descending embeds via the planted inner
  AST so promoted fieldinfo entries keep the inner field's own name
  and type node.
- wwi printers unchanged (both stages already emit nameless fields).

sha256_test compiles byte-identically end to end and its 6 tests
pass; 989_lib_byteid is now 44 id / 0 divergent / 0 wwreject.
Fixtures r5913_* (promoted rw, offset shift, anonymous embed,
two-level embed + promoted fn-ptr callee, three rejects); corpus pin
1485/2970.

0b1cc5ef7c check: populate fn-type params in the wwstage tinfo layer
The N_TFN arm stamped only size and return, so every fn tinfo carried
a nil param chain and typeeq judged any two same-return fn types
equal: tagged-union dedup collapsed (*fn(A) T | *fn(B) T) to a bare
8-byte pointer and match read the pointer word as a tag, falling
through every arm for a real second-variant value. Build the tparam
chain like cstage's N_TFN resolve (bare ... sets the FFI variadic
flag; a Hare T... param wraps to []T with a per-param variadic bit
that typeeq now compares, mirroring cstage type_eq). Graduates the
four r76_typeeq_fn pins; the DATABYTEID_DIVERGED ledger is empty.

83c8a4f34f test/wcc: retire 990_selfhost; its live assertions move to their owners
Every probe's assertion is owned by a current gate: the compile and
link probes by make all and the bootstrap fixed point; build/run and
cs/ww byte identity by the fixture corpus, test-data-byteid, and
989_lib_byteid; wwstage driver and toolchain parity by 993/995;
checker-diagnostic parity by the corpus' both-stage //ww:error rows.
The wwdump -t/-a dump-parity probes gated the frontend port's
convergence, which the compiler-output identity gates now own end to
end; carrier ran green at retirement.

What was still uniquely alive migrates: smoke.ww becomes corpus
fixture selfhost_smoke (upgraded from a cstage-only build to both
frontends, byte-identical, exit 42 on both toolchains; corpus pins
move to 1,225/763/2,450 with the new identity hash in the same
commit), and sym_link.ww's scope/sym behavior rows become in-language
lib/ww/syntax/symtest.ww under LIBRARY_TESTS. uses.ww (parser-stub-era
-a fixture) and the already-orphaned tagged_ptr_ret.ww/trypromote.ww
retire with the probe corpus. Bootstrap native gates drop to six;
frontend numeric-sync comments now cite the rule-6 mirror instead of
the retired diff probe.

8bc7a622cc test: fork-per-test runtime
Each @test forks into its own process group with a nonblocking control
pipe carrying framed ready/complete/skip/expect-abort records; timeouts
escalate SIGTERM then SIGKILL over the group. New exports skip,
expectabort, current; new flags -list, -timeout-ms=, -package=. A clean
exit without a completion frame is a harness error, and the exit code
is 0/1 with a discovered/selected/started/completed accounting line.
toktest drops its fixed /tmp path for temp.named so parallel invocations
cannot collide.

7b9488706b parse: enforce strict-package — reject package-less files (#24a)
Flip the soft-default to a hard "missing package clause" error symmetrically in
both stages (cmd/wcc/parse.c + lib/ww/syntax/parse.ww): the first real decl of a
primary section with empty pathmod/resetmod and no seen clause is now rejected.
Closes the documented soft-default divergence (the 63-wrapper carve-out).

The gate flip can't be split from the migration it breaks, so this is one atomic
commit: ~80 test/wcc wrappers gain `package main;` via a shared wwtestpkg.h
helper, 6 data fixtures plus 17 asm-grep assertions update for the bare->main.<leaf>
root-helper mangle shift, and rt/ declares `package rt;` with @symbol pinning the
bare rt_ensure/rt_malloc linker names.

Root mangling narrows: the executable entry `main` stays bare (existing
carve-out), but root helper symbols become main.X. The #84 cluster is rewritten
to assert main.run distinct from aa.run/test.run; its cgen fix and bare machinery
are retained — still load-bearing for package-less module-reset deps. New
table-driven test 782_strict_package.c (6 rows, both stages).

Retiring //ww:module-reset is deferred to #24b: it is load-bearing (clears the
.wwi pathmod so the body's package clause asserts), not a vestige; fusing its
removal here would be a silent mismatch.

All byte-id gates green; full make test reports "all 335 tests passed".

6525e137ae wwi: derive decl-less module's .wwi package leaf from parse-stamped path (#11)
wwi_emit took the .wwi `package` leaf from the first primary decl's module tag;
a fully empty primary module body (zero decls) had none, so the leaf stayed the
literal default "main" and the importer rejected it ("package main does not
match import path <leaf>"). The module identity is only available at parse time
(curmod is overwritten by imported //ww:module sections before emit), so stamp
the primary path onto the N_FILE node (TK_MODULE and TK_MODRESET rp!=NULL sites,
only-if-empty so a bare-reset `package main` root stays "main") and, when the
decl-scan finds no leaf, fall back to that stamped path. Symmetric cstage+
selfhost; both detect scan-miss via the same found-flag so the emitted .wwi
stays byte-identical.

Regression: test/wcc/989_wwileaf_run.c, table-driven over {empty body,
comment-only, nested a.b.c} decl-less shapes, non-vacuity proven.

c0383274d1 lex: clear pending modpath on module-reset, fix empty-module stale-modpath miscompile (#9)
BUG-A #9: when an empty/export-less inlined module body produces `//ww:module <p>` immediately followed by `//ww:module-reset` in one skipws run, lexnext drained TK_MODRESET first then emitted the STALE TK_MODPATH past the reset boundary, re-binding pathmod=<p> so the root `package main` was validated against <p> -> wrong reject. Fix clears the pending modpath at the reset-RECOGNITION site in skipws (NOT lexnext drain): cstage l->modpath=NULL after both l->modreset=1 (cmd/wcc/lex.c); selfhost l.modpathset=0 after all three l.modreset=1 (lib/ww/syntax/lex.ww). Symmetric (rule-10): identical token streams, bootstrap byte-id holds. The normal RESET-then-PATH boundary is unaffected (clear is a no-op when no path is pending). Pin: test/wcc/989_modresetadj_run.c feeds the raw composed adjacency to w6c+w6c_ww (accept + byte-id), red-path-proven (reverting a clear reddens it). A separate wwi-producer defect surfaced (decl-less .wwi defaults to 'package main') filed as #11; not touched here.

c814856550 wwstage: C-FFI variadic call codegen parity with cstage (#10)
Mirror cstage's C-variadic call handling in the ww self-host: parse a
bare `...` param (decl.ww), skip param-keyed desugar for it to avoid a
nil-deref (check.ww), and emit AL = XMM-reg count plus CVTSS2SD
promotion of f32 args in the variadic tail (cgenutil.ww, cgenexpr.ww).
Closes the cat-A wwstage silent miscompile (AL=0, unpromoted f32 tail).

Parse/check/cgen are one atomic align-up (parse alone miscompiles, so
not bisect-splittable). 989_ffivariadic now runs dual-stage (cstage ww
+ wwstage ww_ww), 12/12; w6c==w6c_ww byte-identical. Byte-id alone is
blind here (the bootstrap calls no float-bearing C variadic), so the
ww_ww runtime rows are the real net.

027f90c572 parse,check,type,wwi: @packed struct attribute, both stages (#51)
Hare/harec @packed struct layout: no inter-field or trailing padding, align =
max field align (NOT forced to 1) — matches harec type_store.c + types.c:621
(packed{u8,u64}=size 9/align 8). Parser consumes inline @packed (loud-rejects
unknown struct attrs, both stages); layout gates padding on !packed; cstage
type_eq enforces packed type-distinctness; the .wwi producer round-trips
"struct @packed {". wwstage sets slotsize=size for packed so its composite-ABI
copy matches cstage byte-for-byte. cstage identity is faithful; wwstage identity
rides the deferred #224 nominal-resolvealias arc (#108). Both stages byte-id;
447 tests pass.

0197dfb9e6 lex,wwi: \u/\U unicode escapes + wide-rune .wwi round-trip, both stages (#50)
Hare-faithful \u (4 hex) / \U (8 hex) escapes; \x/\u/\U share one codepoint
path (ref/hare/hare/lex/lex.ha lex_unicode); string literals UTF-8-encode
multi-byte codepoints (cstage inline utf8enc, wwstage utf8.encoderune). The
.wwi producer rune serializer now emits \u/\U so exported wide-rune defs
round-trip (was a fatal >0xFF). Reject >0x10FFFF and surrogates with Hare-
verbatim error strings. Closes the int-cast spelling divergence (#48 RUNE_MAX).
Both stages byte-identical; 446 tests pass.

01b657a7ff wcc,lib/ww/syntax: resolve qualified struct-literal pkg.Type{...} (#76)
The parser folded a qualified type pkg.Type into two different node shapes by position: declaration position collapsed it into one N_TNAME (resolved via the strrchr-leaf path), but literal position left an N_DOT chain that the struct-literal typeref handoff had no resolver arm for, so pkg.Type{...} rejected with "expected type expression".

Normalize the literal-position N_DOT chain into the same source-order N_TNAME the declaration path emits, reusing the existing resolver; no new checker arm. cstage flattens at parseprimary struct-lit handoff; wwstage (no token peek) folds dots in parsepostfix and normalizes there, guarding numeric tuple components and staying in the postfix loop so trailing ops still chain. Both stages emit identical N_STRUCTLIT(N_TNAME). Prereq for qualifying wcc syntax refs (#75).

697e413113 lib/ww/syntax: export the 16 public types consumed by the wcc backend (#72)
After the frontend consolidated into one syntax package, the wcc backend
imports syntax and calls its exported fns — whose signatures reference
types that were unexported. Producing syntax's .wwi interface re-triggered
check_exported_type ("exported declaration references unexported type"):
the residual of BUG-A at the one surviving syntax->wcc boundary. Export
the 16 types that appear in syntax's wcc-facing public surface (directly
in an exported signature, or via a recursively-referenced exported struct
field): nkind, node, lex, tok, tkind, parser, scope, sym, skind, tinfo,
tykind, tfield, tparam, ttupleelem, tctx, tinfocacheent. The set is
minimal (unexporting any one re-breaks the producer) and complete; pos
stays internal. Pure source change — exporting a type emits no code, so
the bootstrap binaries are byte-identical (verified against a clean base
build); only syntax's .wwi gains the type decls.

Post-frontend-reorg residual (#74). syntax now sep-produces clean both
stages. The separate concern of wcc's currently-unqualified refs to
syntax symbols (#75) is a distinct follow-up. Gate 989_syntaxexport_run.

7a8acfb952 lib/ww,wcc: consolidate frontend into one syntax package (Go-compiler model, #74)
The ww compiler frontend was split across packages lex (lex+tok), ww
(ast+sym+typ), and parse — mirroring Hare's ref/hare/hare/{ast,lex,parse}.
That split's only payoff is third-party reuse, which ww has zero of: the
frontend is consumed by exactly one client, the wcc backend. The split's
cost is a wide cross-package export surface — every fn over a sibling
package's type must export it, and under separate compilation that
re-triggers check_exported_type, plus a phantom `import tok;` (tok lives
in package lex). Consolidate into ONE package lib/ww/syntax/, modelled on
Go's cmd/compile/internal/syntax. The 9 files move in (package syntax);
the intra-frontend mutual references become same-package; wcc and the
tool mains import syntax. No cstage C change (the C frontend mangles from
the source package clause). Internal data shapes (AST kinds, token model,
lexer/parser state) still mirror ref/hare/hare per rule 6/12 — only the
module decomposition collapses; the stdlib is untouched.

USER-approved (#74); spec .ai/rob-frontend-reorg.md (drew2 fidelity-
confirmed). Rule-6 carve-out documented in CLAUDE.md. Dissolves the tok
phantom import; collapses the intra-frontend export sprawl. Byte-id
rebaseline (lex.X/parse.X/ww.X -> syntax.X); cs==ww held. The residual
syntax->wcc export surface (10 types) + the unqualified-ref question are
separate follow-ups (#72/#75).

10d005ef58 wcc/ww: serialize aggregate exported defs as value-less .wwi prototypes (BUG-2, #70)
The .wwi (separate-compile interface) producer could not serialize an
exported def whose initializer is a struct/array literal (N_STRUCTLIT/
N_ARRLIT) — `export def f64info: floatinfo = floatinfo{...}` aborted with
"unhandled const-expr node kind 15". Such a def is a DATA-global per the
#52 model, so its value lives once in the defining package's .o; the
interface needs only the type+symbol. Emit a value-less prototype
`export def X: T;` for aggregate-initializer defs; scalar fold-eligible
defs keep their value (the importer const-folds those). The parser gains
an optional-init arm so the importer can parse the prototype — value-less
`def X: T;` is now legal in any source, symmetric with the existing
bodyless-fn prototype `fn f();` (USER ruling: unconditional; a value-less
def with no defining .o is a loud undefined-symbol error at link, never
silent). Both stages; producer + parser fold into one commit (the
producer's output is unparseable without the parser arm).

M3-tail commit-6 prerequisite #2 (surfaced by the c6 scout). The
aggregate-def-field const-fold boundary is documented inline (#71). Gate
989_sepstructdef_run proves struct+array exported defs sep-build, link,
and run via external DATA refs, cs==ww, with a value-less .wwi.

747475174a wcc/ww: tag sep-built dotted-path packages by full path not leaf (#57)
A separately-compiled package's primary body was emitted under a bare
`//ww:module-reset`, so its own `package <leaf>;` clause set curmod to
the leaf (e.g. utf8) while the importer spliced the .wwi under the full
`//ww:module encoding.utf8` — definer mangled `utf8.X`, importer wanted
`encoding.utf8.X`, unresolved. Thread the dotted path through the
directive: `//ww:module-reset <path>` sets curmod to the dotted path
(imported stays 0, so the root `fn main` stays bare per #32), and the
body's package clause is demoted to a leaf==last-component assertion
instead of overwriting curmod. Aligns sep-build to the M1 path-mangle
model; only the SEP emitter changes (the combined build_one arm is
untouched, so all combined byte-id gates hold). Both stages mirrored.

Commit-6 broad-soak prerequisite. Gate 989_sepdotpath_run sep-builds a
2-level dotted package and proves definer==importer qualification +
single-component non-vacuity, cs==ww.

f308818b4b wcc/ww: mangle imported symbols on dotted import path (#22 M1, #32)
Switch symbol mangling from the import leaf clause to the full dotted import path for directory packages; single-file imports keep package-clause mangling (isdir-gate: imported<=>directory-import). The root build unit's fn main stays bare, every other top-level decl mangles, closing #31's duplicate-main hazard by construction (#32). Both stages, byte-identical.

Single commit, not split: the bare rename (f244af3) is red on its own because it unmasks cross-module resolution gaps that do not reproduce pre-M1, so the fixes are intrinsic to making the rename correct. Included: wwstage fnret/fnparamslookupmod map import alias->path (#199b cross-module union-variant scrutinee resolved the wrong fn's union); cstage use_path prefers the referencing module's import for an ambiguous leaf alias (sha256 crypto.math vs strconv math). Tests table-driven: 989_m1mangle_run/_sym, 989_m1union_run (gate-visible per-arm exit codes + cs==ww byte-id).

6b7de54272 wcc/ww: reject (a,) single-element trailing-comma tuple (catB-92)
wwstage's tuple-parse loop checked the RPAREN-break at the top, so
`(a,)` parsed as a 1-element N_TUPLE and reached cgen — a silent
wrong-accept. A trailing comma is legal only after >=2 elements.
Align the loop order to cstage cmd/wcc/parse.c:552-558 (parse each
element before the RPAREN-break); `(a,)` now errors at the next
parseexpr, `(a, b)` / `(a, b,)` are unchanged. cstage already
rejected; this brings wwstage's w6c_ww parser into agreement.

Regen w6c/wwdump combined.ww (parser embeds in both). Valid-program
codegen unchanged → cs==ww byte-id gate stays green.

cf0789c897 lib/ww/lex: port the u64 overflow guard into parseint (#53)
wwstage parseint dropped the pre-multiply overflow guard the C twin
carries (cmd/wcc/lex.c:156, if (v > (u64)~0ULL / (u64)base)), so any
integer literal exceeding u64 was silently accepted mod 2^64 while
cstage loudly rejected with 'bad integer literal' — a rule-10 stage
divergence and a silent wrong constant. Port the guard before the
multiply-add; wwstage now rejects in lockstep with cstage.

63e837e820 wcc/ww: scopelookuptype prefers the current module's symbol
A type lookup in a bundled build resolved to the newest-installed
same-leaf symbol from ANY module; prefer the current module first
(mirror cstage sym.c:131; the prior attempt's failure was its own
u64-vs-i32 guard bug, not a deeper layer — probe-proven). Also adds
the rule-7 #58 notes at the latent varianterr/scruttype pair and
rewrites the stale deferral block to closing cites. Report item [5].

64f0ddf01b wcc/ww: promote module-name SK_USE to value kind (use_alias), aligned to cstage
A primary-package top-level decl whose leaf also names a bundled module
(`type sym` vs `import sym`; the lib/test->fnmatch->ascii -T floor's
`ascii` module vs a `@test fn ascii`) collided in the flat scope: #23's
installtop dup-check false-fired "duplicate fn/type" where cstage
coexists. cstage keys the module name out of the value namespace by
PROMOTING the same-leaf SK_USE in place to the value kind with
use_alias=1 (cmd/wcc/check.c:2831/2848/2871/2907/2928/2951), so one
correctly-kinded sym serves bare refs (call/structlit/var) while
`name.member` still resolves the module via the `kind==SK_USE ||
use_alias` N_DOT guards (check.c:87/1337).

This REVERSES wwstage's documented two-sym coexistence design
(lib/ww/sym.ww scopelookupuselocal): keeping the SK_USE as a separate
coexisting sym ripples into every bare-reference resolver (~25
scopelookup sites), and a missed site is a byte-id-consistent-but-wrong
cat-A risk the gate cannot prove away — the same failure mode retired
with the name-keyed variant-match cluster. The promote model is correct
by construction: one sym of the right kind, identical to cstage.

sym gains a use_alias field; the three N_DOT/N_CALL module-qualified
guards honor use_alias. cstage installs every SK_USE in a dedicated
first pass, so its value-arm promote is order-INDEPENDENT; wwstage
installs in source order, so BOTH directions of the collision are
promoted to reach cstage's identical single-sym end state:
  - use-before-value (`import aa` then `fn aa`): installtop promotes the
    pre-installed SK_USE to the value kind (use_alias=1).
  - value-before-use (`fn aa` then `import aa`): installdecl's N_USE arm
    promotes the pre-installed value sym in place (set use_alias=1,
    no coexisting SK_USE), mirroring cstage's self-import N_USE arm
    (check.c:2823-2834 `if (prev) prev->use_alias = 1`).
Both orders compile + are cs/ww byte-identical AND byte-identical to
each other. Cannot split: promote without the guards leaves
`name.member` red on the promoted sym; the guards without promote are
inert (no use_alias is ever set) — no bisect-clean intermediate. (#30)

Pins (910/997): modfn_coexist_ok (use-before-value) AND
modfn_coexist_vbu_ok (value-before-use) both accept on cstage + are
cs/ww byte-id + run to exit 6 (bare fn and qualified module both
resolve); the dup_fn row still rejects both stages (regression). fnmatch
byte-id holds. The order-dependence is exactly what regresses silently,
so both orders are pinned.

19e9535ef4 wcc/ww: reject duplicate top-level decls, aligned to cstage
installdecl routes all four kinds (fn/type/def/let) through installtop,
which turns scopedefineinmodule's nil return into cstage's exact
"duplicate <kind> <name>" reject, keyed (name,mod) so cross-package
same-leaf decls coexist. Builtin redecls are dropped, not dup-errored:
cstage never scopes builtins (lookup_builtin first, check.c:69), so a
user redecl is dead there — wwstage mirrors via scopesamekeysym +
no-source-decl test. -T synth __wwtests installs direct, mirroring
check.c:3079. Closes the silent dup-fn hole (user fn run vs lib/test
run built a broken test binary with no diagnostic). Per-kind reject
rows + cross-package/builtin accept byte-id rows + -T collision parity
row in 910/997. (#23-team, category-A addendum closed)

49a5173f3f wcc+ww: //ww:module-reset boundary directive; package-less files keep module "" (#16 PREP-main)
Driver twins emit the line-comment directive only before package-less
files (peekpackage==nil); both lexers tokenize it (TK_MODRESET, appended
=87 so existing token values hold) and both parsers reset curmod — a
package-less file's decls get module "" instead of inheriting the last
bundled package (the sticky-curmod leak, task #11). Withdrawn
alternative: injecting 'package main' flips non-entry symbols
bare->main-prefixed (FFI-visible, broke 764). Codegen-neutral by proof:
bare symbols preserved, both stages emit byte-identical asm for a
directive-bearing combined. Transitional until strict-package rejects
package-less files outright. Includes 737 bad-deep pin for the
PREP-peek >2048 edge + 904/toktest rows for the new token.

4b118fa8f8 cgen: B7 emitter elem chases + tools/peellint gate — #5 alias-arc cs side closed by construction
The last four raw `->under` reads outside the whitelist were the
static-DATA emitters' ELEMENT-type single peels (the outer type already
chased): emit_array_lit_bytes:14356, emit_strarray_data:14574,
emit_slice_data:14788, let_pre_intern:15088 -> type_chase_named.
:15088 is the :14574 row's label-order leg and must flip in the same
commit or _S_ labels intern in emit order, not decl order (the in-tree
comment at the site); the strarr row's byte-id is the coupling proof.

Behavior moves (ken B7 first-position oracle + impl pre-state, all
pre-observed at 05f7af7):
- [N]alias-struct + [N]alias-str globals graduate cs link-ERR
  ("undefined reference") -> 0/0 BYTE-ID (cs emits ww's DATAW).
- zero-consumer latent silence closed: a never-referenced
  2-level-elem-alias global silently lacked DATA (no reference, no
  link error); now emits, pinned by the byte-id cell.
- []alias-str diagnostic routing: the alias escaped the 3-way
  slice-of-{str,slice,tagged} fatal onto the downstream "not a
  foldable constant" text — now the intended 3-way text (== control).
- []alias-tagged DESIGNED NARROWING: the alias dodged the 3-way fatal
  ENTIRELY — cs silently accepted + RAN WRONG for reachable consumer
  shapes (review-verified at base: a len+payload-read probe exits 1;
  the len-only row was luck-correct). Now loud with the 3-way text;
  widen what the gate SEES, never what it ACCEPTS (B6-c2 precedent).
- kb7_slc/slc0 scalar legs byte-NEUTRAL (the synthesized-array
  choke-point already handled them); full kb corpus sweep: movers are
  exactly the two graduation shapes, nothing else.

tools/peellint (sizelint clone, dep of test/test-unit): character-scan
strips comments and string/char literals, then matches the under-token
accessor-spelling-wide — `->under`/`.under` in C (deref-dot is the
same peel), `.under` in ww, optional whitespace after the operator,
and the line-split continuation (operator at EOL, `under` next line).
Scope cmd/wcc + cmd/w6c + selfhost/cmd/wcc + lib/ww (lib/ww/typ.ww
ruled IN — it is type.c's ww mirror, the accessor layer itself);
`peel-ok`/`peellint-ok` annotations exempt a 10-line window. Green at
this tip = zero unwhitelisted raw peels survive; the gate lands in the
commit that deletes the last raw read (the-funnel-completing-commit-
carries-the-gate; sizelint precedent). Whitelist, 27 entries:
  cmd/wcc/type.c    :78 :141 construction, :162 chase body,
                    :180 :193 :214 recursive chase
  cmd/wcc/check.c   :102 :2572 resolve-state probes, :2586 construction
  cmd/w6c/cgen.c    :731 probe-cleared scan peel (B5-c1),
                    :813/:814 :834/:835 peel-ok #218 variant-match
  lib/ww/typ.ww     :316 construction, :374 :385 :410 :437 :447 :463
                    :475 :488 :514 recursive chase
  selfhost/cmd/wcc/cgenutil.ww :1302 chase body (tichase),
                    :2759 probe-cleared peel
  selfhost/cmd/wcc/check.ww    :1815 construction (peellint-ok)

Negative validation wired into 944_peellint_gate (B4 precedent):
re-introduced raw peel (C and ww spellings) REDS the lint; corrupted
annotation (peel-okk-…, token-bounded matcher) REDS the lint; the
check.ww:3683 "io.underread" prose, a code read of a longer field, and
comment-quoted tokens are pinned green regression rows; real tree must
lint clean. 944_alias_emit_b7_run pins all four emit paths
table-driven (14 rows / 36 checks) incl. ken's ww observation cells
(ww checker rejects slice-literal globals, "let: not assignable" —
unmoved; plain []str louds at ww's own emitslicedata 3-way, pinned by
the shared needle).

REVIEW AMENDMENT (reviewer-B7, fix-what-you-find): the frozen tip's
regex matcher passed five compiling evasion spellings green — `t ->
under` spacing, `t->`/EOL + `under` next-line (both stages; ww parses
`t.`/EOL too), C deref-dot `(*t).under`, ww `t. under`, and a string
literal containing a block-comment opener that blinded the regex
comment-strip for the rest of the file. The matcher is now a
character scan (comments + string/char literals stripped before
matching) with the widened token rule above; all six spellings are
pinned RED rows in 944_peellint_gate (checks 10 -> 16). The 10-line
annotation window stays as designed (a peel within an annotation's
window is exempt by construction — the window IS the exemption
mechanism). Lint + test bytes only; zero compiler-source bytes moved
in review.

What this does NOT close, said out loud (f2-ruling): a consumer that
never spells `under` at all — a switch on t->kind that simply never
peels — has no token for the lint to see. The accessor+lint closes the
WRONG-PEEL class (single-peel where chase was needed) by construction;
the NO-PEEL class is closed only at sites where classification routes
through the internalized chasing helpers, and contained elsewhere by
the acceptance-commit-carries-tripwires doctrine, which stays standing
for every future acceptance widening. The gate does not make alias
bugs impossible; it makes the four-times-burned shape unwritable.

Rule-11 note: forced fuse — the four conversions ARE the last raw-read
deletions; peellint cannot be green one commit earlier (consumer-graph
-forces-the-fuse precedent, #61).

Invariants: cs asm byte-NEUTRAL on the whole bootstrap corpus (five
mains + smoke, base-input pre==post); five mains cs==ww byte-id at
tip; _ww binary quartet bit-identical to the W2 baseline (ww changes
are comment-only annotation bytes — codegen-inert, proven by the md5
hold); w6c_ww+wwdump main.combined.ww regen'd via make, idempotent;
989 lib ratchet zero flips (31 byte-id / 9 pinned-divergent / 3
pinned-wwreject across 43 units); sizelint 0; peellint 0;
make test-unit "all 294 tests passed" (292 + the two new suites).

738d7f481c wcc/check: #62 typedecl layout is decl-order-INDEPENDENT — demand-resolve forward refs + loud cycle guard (#69)
check_file resolved typedecl bodies in file order with an eager
under->size copy, so any body referencing a typedecl declared LATER
read its size-0 placeholder and baked it in: alias size 0, tagged-
union maxsz 0 (the F0 m5_match $48-frame under-allocated box), struct
field offsets collapsed, array element stride 0 — a whole cstage-only
family (7 size()-probe rows, all cs-fail/ww-pass pre-fix). wwstage's
demand-driven tinfofornode was order-independent on every row, so this
aligns cstage UP to the measured runtime-correct side (the #263-era
ruling; rule 10's align-down governs acceptance surface, not layout
correctness). Oracle: ken /tmp/ken_62_oracle.md — union size is 8B tag
+ roundup8(max CHASED member size), a fixed point over the module,
never a function of decl order.

resolve_typename now resolves a referenced-but-unresolved typedecl on
demand via resolve_typedecl (cycle-guarded by Type.resolving); the
pass-1.5 loop funnels through the same helper. No consumer can see an
unresolved placeholder by construction.

CYCLE GUARD — #69 ABSORBED into this rider (rob's rider condition):
true typedecl cycles now LOUD-reject on BOTH stages — "circular type
dependency" — mirroring harec's in_progress check (ref/harec/src/
check.c:4767 "Circular dependency for '%s'"). Pre-guard: cs silently
sized cycles 0; wwstage HUNG on an alias cycle (`type a = b; type
b = a` — ken's hang probe /tmp/ken62/c1_cycle.ww, killed at the 20s
timeout) and stack-overflowed on a struct value cycle. The check sits
at the VALUE-position size consumers only (alias root, struct field,
array elem, tuple member, union member), so the legal pointer
self-ref (`type node = struct { next: *node }`, the io.stream shape)
stays accepted, byte-id. wwstage gets the twin tinfo.resolving flag
(lib/ww/typ.ww) + circularnamed in check.ww; its arm loud-STOPS
(os.exit) rather than accumulating — wwstage's AST-level alias
walkers (resolvealias, aliaslookup chains) follow TNAME->TNAME by
name, blind to the tinfo table, and spin on a cyclic alias graph even
after the table edge is cut to tyerr (measured); cstage accumulates,
its single-peel ternaries cannot loop.

TWO-LAYER SPLIT — this is ONE bug number (#62) deliberately split
across THREE commits (this rider + F1 + F2), per ken's sizes-correct ≠
payload-correct proof: in NORMAL decl order both stages size the box
correctly (16/24, frames $64) yet both still run exit 2 — the box
STORE is word0-only, a chase-blind copy-WIDTH lookup in cgen, NOT the
type table. EXPECTED-FAIL after this commit: m5b_match1/m5_match stay
exit-2 both stages (now byte-id BOTH orders; pre-fix the fwd order was
$48-frame divergent). The Layer-2 sites and destinations:
  - F1 (cstage): cg_widen_tagged_store single NAMED peel,
    cmd/w6c/cgen.c ~2464 — the type_chase_named census family.
  - F2 (wwstage): rhsstructpayload bare name-keyed structlookup, no
    alias chase, selfhost/cmd/wcc/cgenutil.ww:3062 (structlookupchain
    :1691 already exists).
Banked runtime payload-readback rows for F1/F2: /tmp/impl62r_layer2_rows.md.

Test 944_alias_decl_order_size_run: every size class pinned in BOTH
decl orders (sizes, named union, struct field offsets, array elem,
2-level chain — norm + fwd twins, prefix-luck-breaking last-word
readbacks), 3 cycle BUILDERR rows + the legal ptr-self-ref row,
(void|base) no-regress control; dual-stage + per-row byte-id (arrelem
rows byte-id exempt: pre-existing #60 index-over-alias divergence,
order-independent, cited at the rows). lib/ww/typ.ww is an embedded
source: both main.combined.ww regen'd + committed (freshness gate).

60e61315bc ww/lex: fold float literals through strconv.stof64 — 1-ULP cs≠ww class (#62)
wwstage's parsef64 (naive i64-accumulator + pow-10 fold) diverged from
cstage's strtod: >19-digit mantissas overflowed the accumulator (sign-bit
garbage), DBL_MIN was +1 ULP, DBL_MAX -2 ULP — the #59.10 ratchet pin.
C-strtod oracle confirms cstage correctly rounded on every vector, so
wwstage aligns to it by dogfooding strconv.stof64 (correctly-rounded
decimal engine, already imported by lex.ww). Overflow literals now
reject in both stages (stof64 overflow -> errat, mirroring ERANGE).

Fix + #59.10 M_DIVERGE->M_ID graduation + pins land together per the
ratchet's designed flow (the gate trips loud demanding graduation):
oracle-pinned vectors in toktest.ww floatfold_cases (lexer-unit) and
989_floatlit_run (compiler fold: runtime bits + byte-id + overflow
reject parity). Retained subnormal accept-set asymmetry filed as task
#21, documented at the lexnum site.

5c1e9c0bfb lib/ww/lex: kwlookup if-ladder -> [N]str parallel-table linear scan (kwtab, rides #18/#8)
Replace kwlookup's 30-arm streqn if-ladder with two parallel module-level
tables — kwnames: [30]str + kwkinds: [30]tkind — scanned linearly via
strings.compare, and delete the hand-rolled streqn. Rides #18 (module-
level [N]str static-init + relocations) for the kwnames data and #8
([N]enum element sizing) for the kwkinds[i] read, which is itself the
construct that surfaced the #8 elemsizeofc/array-init-store miscompile.

Two parallel arrays rather than a [N]kwent array-of-struct: a str inside
an aggregate element is the filed #18 follow-up. Mirrors the C twin
cmd/wcc/tok.c kwlookup (N=30, linear, no hash). Source re-applied on top
of the #8 cgen fix and regenerated fresh: the wwstage-compiled toktest
now runs correctly (exit 0, no segfault) where pre-#8 it smashed the
frame on the local [N]tkind init store.
